Locks: Canal d'Accolay

The Canal d'Accolay links the Canal du Nivernais at Bazarnes in the west to its terminus of Vermenton in the east.

The canal was opened in 1880 and provided a link from Vermenton to the Canal du Nivernais at Bazarnes. The Canal du Nivernais was opened in 1842 and linked the Loire to the Seine via the navigable River Yonne at the Seine end.

The canal is very short compared with most canals as it is only 3.8 kilometres in length and has two locks that are 38.5 metres long by 5.05 metres and operated by lock keepers.  There is also one flood lock.
