Locks: Canal de Roanne à Digoin

The Canal de Roanne à Digoin begins at a large basin in Roanne, connected with a short navigable length of the river Loire, and ends close to the town of Digoin, where it joins the Canal latéral à Loire. The distance from Roanne basin to the junction with the lateral canal is 55.6km.

When the canal was built in 1838 it had 13 locks.  When the locks were converted to the Freycinet standard at end of 19th century three of the locks were removed and others deepened.
