There are five locks on the Grande Saône between Lyon and Saint-Jean-de-Losne and they all take a maximum boat size of 185 metres by 12 metres; these locks replaced 12 original locks.
The locks have stepped bollards for pleasure craft and as the water rises, the lines have to be removed and moved up to the next bollard.
