Locks: Nottingham & Beeston Canal

Even though it is now part of the River Trent Navigations this stretch was the eastern end of the Nottingham canal which used to run all the way up to Langley Mill to meet the Erewash and Cromford canals. Only the section between Trent Bridge and Lenton is now navigable.

The Beeston Cut joins the Nottingham canal at Lenton and the Nottingham canal is disused from Lenton to Langley Mill. The area at Lenton is called Lenton Chain as the canal company used to lock a chain across the canal here to stop traffic passing through at night without paying a toll.
